The Carnival of Barranquilla is a folkloric and cultural event celebrated in Colombia. It is held annually in February or early March. The carnival is celebrated between Saturday and Carnival Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent). Nearly 3 million people, including visitors and locals, participate in the festival every year. Some of the most traditional costumes of the Barranquilla carnival are Marimonda, Garabato, Congo and Monocuco.
