Bocas de Cenizas is an artificial canal that connects the Magdalena River with the Caribbean Sea. It is the place where Colombia’s largest river flows into the sea. The canal was built in the 1930s and is considered a great architectural work. The name “Bocas de Cenizas” is due to the ashy tone that the waters of the sea acquire when receiving the river.
