The Embalse Peñol-Guatapé is a Colombian reservoir located in the east of Antioquia. It was built in two stages, the first completed in 1972 and the second in 1979, and is Colombia’s most regulated reservoir. The reservoir covers one-fourth of Guatapé’s territory and is one of Colombia’s largest lentic ecosystems. Water sports are practiced daily at this location, as well as motorboat rides, jet skis, and yachts.
